The forgotten war on terrorism.

Perhaps first gaining mass media attention in 2001, terrorism has become a global issue affecting virtually everyone. Terrorism in the Middle East has risen greatly in the past 10 years and despite the media draw to other issues such as uprisings and natural disasters, the war on terrorism is still waging on. American troops are still deployed, people are still dying, and yet, it seems that media attention is consistently waning off. From militant attacks to car side bombs, terrorism has not taken a break. In just August, the reported death toll was just over 800 and over 2,000 wounded. The war, and fighting has caused the countries populous to live in fear, uncertainty, and terror.

This fighting and terrorism has caused tension in the U.N. about what exactly to do. Not only affecting the people and residents of the countries where in terrorism is more prevalent, but it affects people who wouldn’t even think about it. The terrorist cells in countries outside of the Middle East have wildly heightened security all around the globe and caused a growing number of restrictions to be implemented. It is also a great burden to the money allocation in the U.S. and other countries closely involved in the war on terror. And perhaps the most obvious determent to society is the general fear to everyone. Whether it be worrying about the where or when the next terrorist strike will be or inconvenienced in the airport with some extra security, terrorism in an issue that truly effects everyone. In this blog, there will be a balance of the history behind terrorism in the modern world and commentaries on current events involving the subject matter.
